Welcome to Alliance Chiropractic!

Chiropractic maintains that the body possesses a unique innate wisdom that strives to maintain it in a state of good health. At the Alliance Chiropractic Wellness Center, our focus is on the upper cervical / upper neck region of the spine, which houses & protects the brain stem. When misaligned, this is the most serious kind of vertebral subluxation (misalignment). Our care is:

Upper Cervical Oriented

Although the full spine is checked and adjusted as needed, the emphasis in our office is on the upper cervical region of the spine – the top two bones of the neck called the Atlas and the Axis. The reason for emphasizing the upper cervical spine is two-fold: One, because these bones are the most freely moving vertebrae in the spine and, thus, are most subject to misalignment. Two, because this area of the spine houses and protects a part of the brain that extends out of the skull called the Medulla Oblongata. This area of the brain controls the autonomic nervous system which in turn controls the organs. If there is pressure on the brain stem, it is obviously more serious than misalignments (vertebral subluxations) in other areas of the spine. The good news is that when vertebral subluxations are corrected in this area, the results can be quite significant. After correcting vertebral subluxations in this very important area, then the rest of the spine is addressed.

Since the body is always striving to maintain itself in a state of good health, our thorough evaluation (which includes state of the art paraspinal infrared thermography) allows us to accurately detect the presence or absence of vertebral subluxation and determine if an adjustment is needed or not. After a vertebral subluxation is identified, a gentle force called an adjustment is administered to realign the spine and thus remove the resultant nerve system interference.

There exists within the chiropractic profession today two schools of thought, which are called “Straight” and “Mixed.” Mixed chiropractic mixes chiropractic and other methods to accomplish the medical objective of treating disease. Straight chiropractic uses chiropractic methods to accomplish the chiropractic objective of locating, analyzing and correcting vertebral subluxation. Read “Well Care vs. Sick Care” to learn more about this.

The adjustment feels like a light tap on the spine and takes a fraction of a second. It is very safe and gentle.
